The Director UK will be responsible for overseeing HBO’s Home Entertainment physical & digital business in the UK & Ireland. They will be responsible for all Product Management & Marketing of HBO’s products in territory. They will be accountable for developing and executing product and franchise strategies to achieve forecasted revenue and profit for the UK & Ireland. They will work cross-functionally with other HBO departments (in US and internationally) to manage compelling, brand-appropriate and revenue-maximizing Home Entertainment products and will be accountable for the management of the total P/L. Key aspects of the role include collaborating with the UK Sales Team, overseeing agency relationships, pricing strategies along with building strong working relationships with distribution partners such as Warner Bros. & broadcasters.
In conjunction with VP and in close collaboration with other HBO stakeholders develop UK & Ireland franchise strategies and manage product lifecycle for assigned franchises with the goal of maximizing long-term revenue and profit. Determine release strategy (format, street date, packaging, pricing and discounts) as well as catalogue repackaging, reformat and reprice needs.
In collaboration with Planning & Analysis, Sales and US/International Product Management teams, drive the development of Global strategies for key franchises including establishing volume projections, budgets and marketing spend.
Launch compelling, franchise-appropriate Home Entertainment products with focus on maximizing revenue and an eye towards the competitive home entertainment landscape. Work with internal teams to produce UK specific packaging and content (when necessary) and other product attributes (ie GWPs and premiums).
Lead UK specific marketing; oversee planning, budget and execution of HBO HE consumer advertising to ensure it aligns with HBO HE business objectives and addresses different formats.
Manage creative agencies (Eg PR, Media, Social & Design agencies)
Manage P/Ls for all franchises, ensuring spending, volume estimates, and pricing assumptions are appropriate and in-line with business objectives. Provide volume and expense inputs for annual budgeting.
Collaborate with Sales and US/International Product Management to identify and develop distribution and merchandising opportunities; develop creative for all retail programs and promotions.
Collaborate with HBO Brand and Social Marketing teams to develop and capitalize on targeted cross-platform opportunities in UK. Develop publicity plans, including talent appearances, in conjunction with local PR agency and collaboration with HBO Media Relations.
Maintain strong working relationship with internal groups including Sales, PM, Legal, PR, Media Relations, Consumer Marketing and Business Affairs.
Manage and develop two team members – an Associate Marketing Manager & a Marketing Assistant - ensuring continued growth and development.
Bachelor’s degree required. Business management or product management & marketing focus preferred
7+ years of Product Management, Marketing, CPG, or other related work experience.
Self-starter with passion for media and a solid understanding of the Home Entertainment and TV landscape.
Strong understanding of the UK marketplace.
Experienced marketer with strong financial background.
Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills.
