As a Director of Analytics Infrastructure Program Management in HBO’s Consumer Insights & Analytics team, you will be responsible for understanding the company’s business analysis and data requirements, translating those requirements into functional specifications for our Information Technology and Digital Product teams for implementation. This individual will program manage and ensure implementation from the business perspective of a future forward roadmap for HBO’s Data Analytics Platform, working closely with counterparts from Information and Digital Technology and business stakeholders, such as Marketing, Finance, etc. This person will also interact with other parties interested in Analytics, such as Turner, Warner Brothers, Time Warner corporate, etc. This roadmap will include not only data, internal and third-party technology but also business process and organizational changes.
Work closely with HBO’s Media Technology & Information Systems (MTIS) to ensure inclusion of business requirements into the Data Analytics Platform (DAP) roadmap, implementation on time and with quality.
Project manage the CI&A and business stakeholder interests, needs and requirements from identification to roadmap and delivery.
Program manage business requirements gathering, user story development, functional specification development, working across multiple HBO organizations, third parties and Time Warner entities, especially with Information Systems counterparts and business stakeholders.
Partner with MTIS and Digital Products (DP) to create a delivery process, identifying roles, responsibilities and how we will partner.
Manage the process of continuous requirements gathering from the business perspective for current and future business requirements of data and analytics, spanning the customer journey from closed-loop marketing through engagement and retention.
Define business user stories for all operating units that use enterprise analytics.
Develop and maintain a deep awareness of best practice approaches for data, data governance and analytics generally across industries, and more specifically for how things practically get done and with which partners and providers.
Negotiate and manage contracts with third-party analytics and big data platforms, data sources and solutions when appropriate for just Consumer Insights & Analytics. Work with other teams to manage technology solutions as they apply to CI&A, such as Technology Acquisition Partnership, Finance, Legal, etc.
Develop business cases in partnership with MTIS to justify data and analytic infrastructure investment and manage the business value delivery of investments, in collaboration with Strategic Finance and technical teams
Manage budget and delivery of in-house and third-party solutions, data services when they apply only to CI&A.
Identify, recommend, and manage the implementation of new and existing organizational models, resource and process requirements for the Data Analytics Platform that apply to CI&A and take other suggestions to the DAP and Data Governance committees.
Collaborate with technical teams to deliver business solutions for data and infrastructure needs, assessing the trade-offs involved with solution capability, cost and speed of development, and while considering options to ‘build’, ‘outsource’, ‘software as a service’ or ‘buy’.
Evaluate new analytic technology, services and processes.
Work with technical, financial, legal and business organizations in HBO to ensure acquisition, maintenance and streamlining of analytical and data infrastructure
Minimum BS required, MBA preferred.
Program Management and Process development expertise and an ability to find ways to get things done within and across silos of organizations
Strong organizational, analytical, project management and problem-solving skills
A minimum of 10 years’ experience of consulting, project management and vendor relationships for B2B and/or consumer-facing businesses
Experience with or strong understanding of data analytics and infrastructure
Experience in one or more of the following environments: consulting, cable/satellite/telco, mobile, media, entertainment or interactive businesses focused on the consumer universe
Knowledge of the current landscape of technical, consulting, data vendors for insights/ analytics/ business intelligence, reporting and data visualization, marketing automation, and digital media solutions (personalization, optimization, recommendation engines, content/ asset management solutions)
High level knowledge of development and innovation processes, and technical delivery methodologies (including waterfall and agile)
The ability to piece together seemingly disparate end-user needs to create a cohesive, prioritized plan and roadmap.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, to effectively communicate often complex, multi-faceted plans at all levels of the organization.
Excellent interpersonal and client/vendor management skills, including the ability to manage multiple stakeholder groups with often diverse objectives and perspectives.
Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a matrixed team oriented environment.
Occasional (maximum monthly) travel between New York, LA and Seattle.
